The author suggests three simple models describing the dynamics of a human society where people play a two-strategy multi-player game. The first model is a one-dimensional ODE with a bistable nonlinearity and is referred to as the single-society case. Two other models propose two different kinds of the connection between societies: migration (two-dimensional ODE system) or spatial diffusion (one-dimensional parabolic equation of the Allen-Cahn type). For the first single-society model and for the second two-society model one mainly looks at the stability of equilibria, whereas for the third model one makes predictions based on the known properties of traveling wave solutions. The results are interpreted in terms of the payoff-dependent update rule of strategy and the social learning with conformism.
