Variational methods for a class of nonlocal functionals (Q1962977): Difference between revisions

In the paper, the authors give an overview and present some recent developments and new results on some variational problems related to functionals with nonlocal transformations of the argument, in particular argument deviation. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of minima for such integral functionals in one space dimension are studied, as well as problems related to their lower semicontinuity in spaces of absolutely continuous functions. The authors also discuss an application to the simultaneous minimization of an infinite sequence of functionals of the above type over the space of the locally absolutely continuous functionals on the real line.
