The author continues his work on Newton's method for solving nonlinear operator equations in a Banach space setting. This paper deals with inexact Newton methods for approximating the locally unique solution to the equation \(F(x)= 0\), where \(F\) is a twice Fréchet-differentiable nonlinear operator mapping on open convex subset of a Banach space into another Banach space. The local convergence results obtained here are somewhat better (as they allow a wider range of starting points) than those known from \textit{T. J. Ypma} [Numer. Math. 45, 241-251 (1984; Zbl 0535.65029)]. The results apply especially to difference Newton-like and update-Newton methods. Finally, the results are applied to a nonlinear autonomous first-order differential equation in \(\mathbb{R}\).
