A mass-in-mass lattice consists of an infinite chain of particles, called beads or shells, each coupled to its two nearest neighbors, and also coupled to an additional internal resonator particle. In the paper the authors study the existence of solitary waves in these lattices. By imposing an antiresonance condition proposed by \textit{P. G. Kevrekidis} et al. [Lett. Math. Phys. 106, No. 8, 1067--1088 (2016; Zbl 1345.37083)], the authors show that such solutions exist in two limits: (1) when the mass of the internal resonator is small; (2) when the internal spring is very stiff. Moreover, by numerical simulations it is shown that the anti-resonant traveling waves are very weakly unstable.
