The authors study the Navier-Stokes-Fourier system for heat-conducting fluids in two spatial dimensions. Zero-flux boundary conditions hold at the boundary. The main result is the existence theorem for the weak solution. The state equation is nonlinear, of the special form, with some parameter \(\alpha\). Existence is proved for large enough \(\alpha>\mathrm{const}\) with no estimates on initial data nor on the right-hand side.
