Let \(X\) be a proper (in the sense that every closed ball is compact) metric space with bounded geometry (in the sense that the cardinality of any ball of finite radius is finite) and \(Z\) a fixed countable dense subset of \(X\). The \(\ell^p\)-Roe algebra \(B^p(X)\) is the norm cloure of the algebraic \(\ell^p\)-Roe subalgebra \(B^p_{alg}(X)\) of the algebra \(\mathcal L(\ell^p(X,\ell^p))\) consisting of all finite propagation, locally compact operators \(propagation(T)=\inf\{S: T(x,y) = 0, \forall x,y\in Z \mbox{ with } d(x,y)>S \}\) of the operator family \(T=(T(x,y))_{x,y\in Z}\) consisting of bounded operators in \(\ell^p\) (Definition 2). The \(\ell^p\)-localization algebra \(B^p_L(X)\) is the norm-closure of all the uniformly norm-continuous functions \(g(t)\) on \([0,\infty)\) with values in the \(\ell^p\)-Roe algebra \(B^p(X)\) such that \(propagation(g(t)) \to 0\) as \(t\to \infty\). One defines the evaluation homomorphism \(e(g) = g(0)\). Denote by \(P_d(\Gamma)\) the simplicial complex with the vertex set \(\Gamma\) at scale \(d\), i.e. of length \(\leq d\) (Definition 4), equipped with the metric \(d_{P_d}(x,y) := \inf\{\ell(\delta) | \delta \mbox{ a semi-simplicial path between } x \mbox{ and } y \}\). The main result of the paper is the \(\ell^p\)-version of the Novikov conjecture for subspaces of nonpositively curved manifolds (Theorems 1, 16): If a metric space \(\Gamma\) is coarsely embeddedf into a simply connected complete Riemannian manifold of nonpositive sectional curvature then the coarse geometric \(\ell^p\)-Novikov conjecture holds for \(\Gamma\) in the sense that the assembly map \(\mu= e_*: \lim_{d\to \infty} K_*(B_L^p(P_d(\Gamma))) \to K_*(B^p(\Gamma))\) is injective for any \(p\in (1,\infty)\)
