Multiple zeta values are real numbers defined as \[ \zeta(\mathbf{k})=\sum\limits_{m_1>\cdots>m_r>0}m_1^{-k_1}\cdots m_r^{-k_r}, \] where \(\mathbf{k}=(k_1,\ldots,k_r)\in\mathbb{N}^r\) with \(k_1\geq 2\). There are many \(q\)-analogs of multiple zeta values, among which are the Bradley-Zhao model and the Schlesinger-Zudilin model. Both Bradley-Zhao \(q\)-multiple zeta values and Schlesinger-Zudilin \(q\)-multiple zeta values satisfy a duality relation. The former one implies the duality of multiple zeta values and the latter one induces the shuffle product formulas of multiple zeta values. The author uses the tool of connected sums which were introduced by \textit{S.-i. Seki} and \textit{S. Yamamoto} [Int. J. Number Theory 15, No. 6, 1261--1265 (2019; Zbl 1443.11183)] to prove the duality of Bradley-Zhao \(q\)-multiple zeta values and the duality of Schlesinger-Zudilin \(q\)-multiple zeta values. The author also proves the \(q\)-Ohno relation of Bradley-Zhao \(q\)-multiple zeta values. The key facts used in the proof are the symmetry of the parameters and the transport relations of the connected sum.
