In the paper the authors study the problem of the integrable classification of lattice equations of the form \[u_{n,xy} = f(u_{n+1}, u_n, u_{n-1}, u_{n,x}, u_{n,y}), \ \ n\in \mathbb Z,\] where the function \(u_n = u_n(x, y)\) depends on \(x, y\in \mathbb R\) and the function \(f = f(x_1, \dots , x_5)\) is analytic in \(D\subset \mathbb C^5\). Here integrability means existence of reductions of a chain to a system of hyperbolic equations of an arbitrarily high order that are integrable in the Darboux sense. A classification algorithm is discussed and some classification results are presented. Moreover, some examples of integrable equations are found.
