The author investigates a nonlinear iterative functional equation, called second-type Feigenbaum-Kadanoff-Shenker equation, given by \[ f\bigl(f(\varepsilon^2 x)\bigr)=\varepsilon f(x),\qquad f(0)=1, \] where \(\varepsilon>0\) is fixed and \(f\colon[0,1]\to[0,1]\) is the unknown function. First the minimum properties of the solutions are presented, and then the properties of single-valley-extended solutions with platform are studied. A continuous solution \(f\) is a single-valley-extended solution with platform, if there exists a subinterval \([a,b]\subseteq[\varepsilon^2,1]\) such that \(f\) is strictly decreasing on \([\varepsilon^2,a]\), constant on \([a,b]\), and strictly increasing on \([b,1]\). Finally, using iterative methods, such solutions are constructed and their relation with the solutions of the FKS equation (when the right-hand side involves \(-\varepsilon\) instead of \(\varepsilon\) above) is discussed.
