For a finite group \(G\), the author considers the group \(IA_z(G)\) of those automorphisms of \(G\) acting trivially on both the centre \(Z(G)\) and the factor group \(G/G'\). It is proved that when \(G\) and \(H\) are finite isoclinic groups, then \(IA_z(G)\cong IA_z(H)\). When \(G\) is a finite \(p\)-group, it is shown that \(IA_z(G)=C_{\Aut(G)}(\text{Inn}(G))\) if and only if \(G'=Z(G)\). Moreover, when \(G\) has nilpotency class 2, then \(IA_z(G)=\text{Inn}(G)\) if and only if \(G'\) is cyclic.
