A cover for a group \(G\) is a finite collection of proper subgroups whose union is all of \(G\), a minimal cover for \(G\) is a cover which has minimal cardinality among all the covers of \(G\). It has been proved by \textit{R. A. Bryce} and \textit{L. Serena} [J. Aust. Math. Soc. 71, No. 2, 159-168 (2001; Zbl 0997.20034)] that a finite group that has an Abelian minimal cover is solvable. The main result of this paper is that every finite group that has a nilpotent minimal cover is solvable.
