Construction of pairs of multivariate dual wavelet frames is a challenging issue for dimensions greater than one. In this paper the author investigates frame-like wavelet systems with symmetry. A frame-like wavelet system relaxes the requirement for dual wavelet frames by not requiring that all the wavelet functions should have vanishing moments and that the corresponding wavelet system should be a Bessel sequence in the square integrable function space. For any dilation matrix, the author first describes all masks which are symmetric about a point and have any given order of sum rules. Then the author derives from such masks frame-like wavelet systems that are symmetric or antisymmetric about a point and have any given approximation orders. Frame-like wavelet systems with better symmetry (such as axial symmetry) are also discussed in this paper. In particular, an explicit construction of highly symmetric frame-like wavelet systems with any given approximation order is presented. Examples are given to illustrate the general construction procedure proposed in this paper.
