For fusion categories, that is, semisimple finite braided tensor categories, it is well known that a braided fusion category C is non-degenerate if and only if its Muger center is trivial, if and only if it is factorizable. However, these equivalent conditions is not clear for general finite braided tensor categories. In the paper under review, by using theories of Hopf monads, especially the Hopf monad introduced by \textit{V. Lyubashenko} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 98, No. 3, 279--327 (1995; Zbl 0823.18003); in: Proceedings of the 2nd Gauss symposium. Conference A: Mathematics and theoretical physics, Munich, Germany, August 2-7, 1993. Berlin: Walter de Gruyter. 529--579 (1995; Zbl 0851.18004); J. Pure Appl. Algebra 98, No. 3, 245--278 (1995; Zbl 0823.18002)], the author proves that those equivalent conditions still hold for finite braided tensor categories. As a consequence, the author generalizes many important conclusions about braided fusion categories to finite braided tensor categories. Moreover, the author also gives one useful way to construct factorizable Hopf algebras, which are not obtained by Drinfeld doubles.
