The author presents an inequality involving the volume and the diameter of a complete, connected Riemannian manifold (M,g) of dimension \(n\geq 2\), with sectional curvature \(K_ M\geq 1\). He proves that the ratio Vol(M)/d(M) is not greater than the analogous ratio for the sphere \(S^ n\). Moreover, the equality holds if and only if M is isometric to \(S^ n\) or \({\mathbb{R}}P^ n\) with constant sectional curvature \(K=1\).
