The aim of the paper is to extend a result of \textit{A. Beliakova} et al. [``Modified trace is a symmetrised integral, Preprint, \url{arxiv:1801.00321}] from Hopf algebras to quasi-Hopf algebras. Let \(H\) be a finite dimensional unimodular pivotal quasi-Hopf algebra over a field. Then the finite dimensional \(H\)-modules form a pivotal tensor category \(H\)-mod. The main result of the paper shows that the right (left) modified traces on the tensor ideal of projective objects of \(H\)-mod are in bijection to the right (left) cointegrals for \(H\). It follows that such traces exist and are unique up to scalar multiples. Also, any non-zero right modified trace on the projectives is non-degenerate. The results are illustrated with an example, where cointegrals and modified traces are computed for the class of symplectic fermion quasi-Hopf algebras.
