The main result in this paper is that each blowup of solutions of the parabolic-parabolic Keller-Segel system in either planar bounded domains or in \(\mathbb{R}^2\) is of type II. This was previously known for radially symmetric solutions only, see [\textit{N. Mizoguchi}, J. Funct. Anal. 271, No. 11, 3323--3347 (2016; Zbl 1456.35048)]. Type II blowup means that for some \(T\in(0,\infty)\) \(\lim_{t\nearrow T}\|u(t)\|_\infty=\infty\), and it is not true that \(\|u(t)\|_\infty\le c(T-t)^{-1}\) for some constant \(c>0\).
