Symplectic instanton homology is an invariant of 3-manifolds that was introduced by \textit{C. Manolescu} and \textit{C. Woodward} [Prog. Math. 296, 283--329 (2012; Zbl 1260.57050)]. The twisted version has been introduced by the author in [J. Symplectic Geom. 17, No. 1, 93--177 (2019; Zbl 1432.57062)]. These groups are defined after choosing a specific Heegaard splitting of the 3-manifold, and it turns out that two such decompositions yield isomorphic groups. In the paper under review the author proves that Manolescu and Woodward's symplectic instanton homology, and its twisted versions, are natural. In addition, the author defines maps associated to four dimensional cobordisms within this theory. In this paper, all homology groups are with \(\mathbb Z_2\)-coefficients. The author expects analogous result for groups with \(\mathbb Z\)-coefficients.
