Continuing the study on weighted Hardy spaces from [\textit{A. Boivin} et al., in: Complex and harmonic analysis. Proceedings of the international conference, Thessaloniki, Greece, May 25--27, 2006. Lancaster, PA: DEStech Publications. 129--155 (2007; Zbl 1146.30034)] and [\textit{A. Boivin} and the second author, CRM Proc. Lect. Notes 51, 65--80 (2010; Zbl 1208.30050)], in this paper the authors generalize two previous results, assuming that the weight function is in the Muckenhoupt class. So, using the fact that the weight function satisfies the Muckenhoupt condition, a new characteristic property for weighted Hardy space is given and generalizations of Smirnov's theorem and the canonical factorization theorem \((f=BSF)\) are obtained.
