Let \(X\) be a \(d\)-dimensional normal projective variety over the complex number field \(\mathbb{C}\) and \(\Delta\) be an effective \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisor on \(X\) such that the pair \((X,\Delta)\) is log canonical and \(-(K_X+\Delta)\) is an ample \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisor. Let \(\rho_X\) be the Picard number of \(X\). Moreover, define the pseudo-index \(\iota_{(X,\Delta)}\) of \((X,\Delta)\) as \[\iota_{(X,\Delta)}:=\min \{-(K_X+\Delta)\cdot C\ |\ C\subset X \text{ rational curve}\}\in \mathbb{Q}_{>0}. \] In the present paper the author proves the so-called generalized Mukai conjecture: ``The inequality \(\rho_{X}(\iota_{(X,\Delta)}-1)\leq d\) holds. Moreover, equality holds if and only if \(X\cong (\mathbb{P}^{\iota_{(X,\Delta)}-1})^{\rho_X}\) and \(\Delta=0\).'' in the case when \(X\) is toric and \(\Delta\) is torus invariant.
