This paper deals with the existence of positive periodic solutions of equations \[ \begin{aligned} &\frac{d^2}{dt^2}(x(t) -\int^0_{-\infty}K(r)g(t, x(t+r))dr)\\ &= a(t)x(t) \pm\lambda b(t)\int^0_{-\infty}K(r)f(x(t+r))dr.\end{aligned} \] First, for the case of \(\lambda = 1\), sufficient conditions are provided for the equations (taking \(+\) and \(-\) from \(\pm\)) to have a positive periodic solution. Then, for \(\lambda >0\), various conditions are also proposed (including an upper bound for \(\lambda\)) for the existence of such solutions. It is claimed that these results are generalisation of some work available in the literature.
