    The authors consider a class of degenerate semilinear elliptic systems of the form \[ \begin{cases} -\text{div}(a(x)\nabla_x u)= F_u(x, u,v),\quad &\text{in }\Omega,\\ -\text{div}(b(x)\nabla_x v)= F_v(x,u,v),\quad &\text{in }\Omega,\\ u= v= 0,\quad &\text{on }\partial\Omega,\end{cases}\tag{1} \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain or an unbounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^d\), \(d\geq 2\), the weights \(a(x)\), \(b(x)\) are measurable nonnegative weights on \(\Omega\) and \(F_u(x,u,v)\), \(F_v(x,u,v)\) are the gradients of a \(C^1\)-function \(F(x,u,v)\). The authors obtain some existence results for (1) under subcritical growth conditions. To this end, they use a variational method.
