The authors discuss the semiconvergence of the block accelerated overrelaxation (AOR) method for solving the square linear system \[ Ax = b, \] where \(A\) is a singular \(p\)-cyclic matrix. Some basic facts about the eigenelements between the block AOR iteration matrix and the associated block Jacobi iteration matrix are given. Then a general \(p\)-cyclic singular system is investigated and some sufficient conditions for the semiconvergence of the block AOR method are proved.
