The authors consider varying measures of the form \(d\sigma_n=d\sigma/| Y_n|^p\), where \(\sigma\) is a positive measure on a closed analytic Jordan curve \(C\) and \(\{ Y_n\}\) is a sequence of polynomials verifying: (i) for each \(n\), \(Y_n\) has exactly degree \(n\) and (ii) all of the zeros of \(Y_n\) lie in the exterior of \(C\). The main result of the paper is the derivation of the strong asymptotics of extremal polynomials with respect to those varying measures \(d\sigma_n\). A density theorem is also given.
