The author studies the Schrödinger operator \(H\) with potential \(V\) depending on the tranversal coordinates for homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions in a tube (a three-dimensional infinite curved and twisted cylinder). The existence or nonexistence of discrete spectrum is determined by the sign of a number \(\mu_2\) depending on the curvature and the internal torsion of the tube. The main result is an asymptotic formula for eigenvalues of \(H\) in tubes with small curvature and internal torsion. The author calculates also the essential spectrum of the operator \(H\).
