The authors apply the method of abelian integrals to prove that the cyclicity of the period annulus around the center at the origin of the planar system \[ \dot{x}=y+4x^2,\quad \dot{y}=-x\left(1-\frac83y\right), \] under small quadratic perturbations is two. In complex variables \(z=x+iy\) the system writes as \[ \dot{z}=-iz+\frac53z^2+2|z|^2+\frac13\bar{z}^2 \] and is among the systems having all their orbits elliptic curves.
