A characterization of parallelepipeds related to weak derivatives (Q2387169): Difference between revisions

The author gives a new characterization of parallelepipeds by a property of certain measures on the boundary of convex sets. It is shown that measure valued weak derivatives of convex valued mappings given by shifts of the parallelepiped in the directions of its 1-dimensional edges are related to the measures used to characterize parallelepipeds. This result can be used to prove a theorem on the comparison of uniform location experiments and generalizes Theorem 3.1 of the paper ``Comparing location experiments'' by \textit{E. L. Lehmann} [Ann. Stat. 16, 521--533 (1988; Zbl 0672.62008)].
