Given a projective scheme \(X\), an \(\mathbb R\)-divisor is an element in \(\mathrm{Div}(X)\otimes_{\mathbb Z}\mathbb R\). For an \(\mathbb R\)-divisor \(L\), it is possible to define the augmented base locus \(B_+(L)\) that generalizes the fundamental notion of base locus of a linear system in birational geometry. Moreover, it is possible to define the exceptional locus of \(L\) as the union of all the subvarieties \(V\), such that \(L|_{V}\) is not big. Generalizing previous results both in characteristic zero and in positive characteristic, the author proves that for a nef \(\mathbb R\)-Cartier line bundle \(L\) on a projective scheme \(X\) over a field \(k\) of arbitrary characteristic the augmented base locus and the exceptional locus coincides. This allows the author to generalise a criterion for semiampleness that was originally proved by Keel when \(k\) has positive characteristic. Determining when a line bundle is semiample, i.e. when there exists a multiple that is globally generated, is crucial for understanding when a projective variety admits a morphism onto an other one.
