Given an algebraically closed field $K$ of positive characteristic, the author constructs the integral closure of the fields $K(t)$ and $K((t))$ in the field of generalized power series $K((t^{\mathbb Q}))$. The author begins by pointing out an error in his previous work concerning the characterization of the algebraic closure of $K((t))$, see [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 129, No. 12, 3461--3470 (2001; Zbl 1012.12007)]. He proceeds with a counterexample to the claim in that paper, and then provides a corrected version of the results. More specifically, the author demonstrates that the integral closure of $K(t)$ in $K((t^{\mathbb Q}))$ consists precisely of all quasi-automatic generalized power series, which allows him in turn to describe the integral closure of $K(t)$ in $K((t^{\mathbb Q}))$ in terms of such series. The author closes by describing the implications for all other papers -- to his knowledge -- that cite his work. In each case, the author justifies why the results of those other papers are not ultimately impacted in a negative manner.
