This article deals with semigroups given by the different pole values that a function of a function field can have. In particular, it considers semigroups given by \(m\) points and it studies the relation with the Poincaré series, a formal series defined using the filtration of Riemann-Roch spaces of functions at these points. The Poincaré series series is interesting because it captures the information of the semigroup and the function field. In the case with one or two points, \(m=1,2\), the Poincaré series is rational [\textit{J. J. Moyano-Fernández}, Abh. Math. Semin. Univ. Hamb. 81, No. 1, 115--127 (2011; Zbl 1274.14039)], that is, the formal sum is equal to the quotient of two polynomials. Therefore one captures ``infinite information'' about the function field in a ``finite object''. This article deals with the case \(m>2\). The main result of the article are Theorems 4.2 and 4.3 where the authors show that the Poincaré series determines the Weierstrass semigroup for \(m>2\).
