The paper deals with a numerical solution of a class of partial differential equations that arise in the study of thin films and phase field models, which leads to a fourth order equation. The authors employ a finite difference method for space discretization and the forward Euler method for time discretization. Then stability and convergence results are presented. Finally, numerical examples of the lubrication equation, a degenerate Cahn-Hiliard equation and electrowetting on dieletctrics are presented.
