The author studies the possible development of singularities in finite time, in a model of shallow water introduced by Dullin, Gottwald and Holm (DGH). He adapts a previous technique of A. Bressan and P. Constantin initially deviced for the Camassa-Holm equation to the DGH model and proves the global existence of a solution with conserved (constant) energy.
