In the present paper, the authors consider the functional equation \(f^3+g^3=1\) for \(f,g\) being meromorphic functions on \(\mathbb C^2\). Under the condition that \(f_{z_2}\) and \(g_{z_1}\) have the same zeros (counting multiplicities), the authors prove that the solutions are reduced to constants. The key of the proof is to introduce an auxiliary function \(P=\frac {f_{z_2}g_{z_1}}{f^2g^2}\) and to apply the Nevanlinna fundamental theorems.
