A system of Timoshenko type in a one-dimensional bounded domain is considered. Only the equation for the rotation angle has damping with no growth assumption at the origin and the other equation does not have any damping. In the case of the same speed propagation in both equations of the system, a general semi-explicit formula for the decay rate is established and in the case of different speeds a polynomial decay is shown.
