The one-dimensional Prolate spheroidal wavelets (PS wavelets) based on the first prolate spheroidal wave function (PSWF) were recently introduced by \textit{X. Shen} and the author [J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 10, No. 1, 1--26 (2004; Zbl 1051.42029)], and were shown to have many desirable properties lacking in other wavelets, such as the closedness under differentiation and translation. In this excellent paper, based on eigenfunctions of an integral operator, the author introduced prolate spheroidal wavelets in higher dimensions.
