Throughout \(R\) is a commutative ring with identity. \textit{P. K. Sharma} and \textit{S. M. Bhatwadekar} [J. Algebra 176, 124--127 (1995; Zbl 0838.05051)] considered the graph \(\Gamma(R)\) with vertices elements of \(R\), where two distinct vertices \(a\) and \(b\) are adjacent if and only if \(Ra+Rb=R\). In the present paper, the authors analyze further the graph structure of \(\Gamma(R)\), and more precisely, of its subgraph \(\Gamma_2(R)\) generated by non-unit elements of \(R\). They study its connectedness and its diameter, and completely characterize the diameter of the graph \(\Gamma_2(R)\setminus J(R)\). Also, they show that if \(R\) and \(S\) are two finite semi-local rings and \(R\) is reduced, then \(\Gamma(R)\cong \Gamma(S)\) if and only if \(R\cong S\).
