The authors examine the unidirectional oscillating flow of a viscoelastic fluid using the fractional Maxwell model. By utilizing a Fourier transform, they obtain exact solutions and then discuss the velocity enhancement of this fractional Maxwell model through comparison with the classical model. It has been found that there are some similarities between the models. For example, the resonance phenomenon similar to the Maxwell model also exists in the case of fractional Maxwell model. However, there are also significant differences. So, the number of resonance peaks in the same frequency region, the amplitudes of the enhancement and the resonant frequencies are totally different.
