The mixed problem in a bounded domain for the following equation \[ u_{tt}-\Delta u+\int^t_0 g(t-\tau)\Delta u\,d\tau=\mid u\mid^{\gamma}, \] where \(\gamma>0,\) is considered. A local existence result is established. For suitable initial data a global existence result and boundedness of the energy as well as uniform decay of the energy is proved. Remark. On the second line of the formulation of the problem, see (1), [\( (x,t) \in \partial \Omega, \, t>0]\) must be added.
