The paper deals with \((-i\nabla+A)^2u+V(x)u=\left| u\right|^{2^\star-2}u\) on \({\mathbb R}^N\), where \(n\geq 3\), \(2^\star:={{2N}\over{N-2}}\). \(A\) is a (magnetic) vector potential and \(V\) is a possibly sign changing (electric) scalar potential. The author provides a setting in which he can establish the existence of a nontrivial (complex valued) solution by employing a version of the mountain pass theorem due to Brezis and Nirenberg.
