    The paper deals with the eigenvalue problem \(T(\varepsilon) \varphi = \lambda \varphi\) in which \(T(\varepsilon) = T_{0} + \varepsilon T_{1} + \varepsilon^{2} T_{2} + \dots,\) where \(\varepsilon \in \mathbb{C},\) and \(T_{0}, T_{1}, T_{2}, \dots\) are linear operators acting from a Hilbert space \(X\) into another Hilbert space \(Y\) and satisfying the following hypotheses : \((H_{1}) \;T_{0}\) is a densely defined and closed linear operator with domain \(D (T_{0});\) \ \((H_{2})\) the eigenvectors \(\varphi_{n}\) of \(T_{0}\) form a Riesz basis in \(X\) (it is assumed that the resolvent of \(T_{0}\) belongs to one of the von Neumann--Schatten class \(\mathcal{C}_{p}\) with \(p > 0\)); \((H_{3})\) the operators \(T_{k}\) \((k = 1,2,\dots)\) are defined on the same domain \(D, D (T_{0}) \subset D,\) and there exist non-negative constants \(a, b, q\) such that \(\| T_{k} \varphi \| \leq q^{k-1} (a \| \varphi \| + b \| T_{0} \varphi \|)\) for all \(\varphi \in D\) and \(k = 1,2,\dots .\) The authors prove that if the eigenvalues \((\lambda_{n})\) of the operator \(T_{0}\) are simple and there exists a positive constant \(r,\) independent of \(n,\) such that \(\{z \in \mathbb C \mid | z - \lambda_{n}| < r\} \cap \sigma (T_{0}) = \{\lambda_{n}\}\) for all \(n = 1,2,\dots,\) then under the hypotheses \((H_{1}) - (H_{3})\) there exists a sequence \((\varepsilon_{n})\) of complex numbers and a sequence \((\varphi_{n})\) of eigenvectors of \(T (\varepsilon)\) having the form \(\varphi_{n} (\varepsilon) = \varphi_{n} + \varepsilon \varphi_{n}^{1} + \varepsilon^{2} \varphi_{n}^{2} + \dots\) such that the family \((\varphi_{n} (\varepsilon_{n}))\) forms a Riesz basis of \(X.\) An application to a problem of radiation of a vibrating structure in a light fluid is considered.
