The authors study an overdamped Frenkel-Kontorova model. The model describes the dynamic behavior of chains of particles which can interact with their near neighbors. The authors show that the dynamic behavior of both overdamped and overdamped limit cases is determined completely by the average velocity of the particles. A few numerical results are presented to validate the theoretical considerations. The paper is primarily theoretical and thus will mostly be of interest to theoreticians. Applications analysts, however, may also find concepts of interest and use.
