The purpose of this paper is to study polynomials and multilinear mappings on topological modules, generalizing similar results on topological vector spaces. The authors establish criteria for the equicontinuity of sets of multilinear mappings and obtain multilinear versions of the Banach--Steinhaus theorem and the Alaoglu--Bourbaki theorem. They also prove completeness or quasi-completeness of certain topological modules of continuous multilinear mappings. Further, using a ``polarization formula'' they establish polynomial analogues of the above results.
