The initial layer phenomena for a class of singularly perturbed nonlinear systems with slow variables is considered. An \(n\)th-order asymptotic expansion with respect to the small parameter \(\varepsilon\) is obtained using stretching variables which enable the construction of two correction terms for the initial layer, each of them having different ``thickness''. It is proved that the asymptotic solution obtained is uniformaly convergent in \(\varepsilon\) by estimating the truncation error for each component of the solution. The paper is written in a rather forbidden English and is not easy to read.
