Let \(F\) be a totally real number field, and let \(B\) be a quaternion algebra over \(F\). Let \(K\) be an imaginary quadratic extension of \(F\). The authors provide a proof of a technical result about the distribution of CM points associated to \(B\) and \(K\), which is needed in the proof of nonvanishing theorems of automorphic \(L\)-functions over \(F\) and their derivatives from their paper [Nontriviality of Rankin-Selberg \(L\)-functions and CM points. \(L\)-functions and Galois representations. Based on the symposium, Durham, UK, July 19--30, 2004. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. Lond. Math. Soc. Lect. Note Ser. 320, 121--186 (2007; Zbl 1153.11025)].
