Let \(X=M\cup Z\) be an \(n\)-dimensional Riemannian manifold with a cylindrical end; here \(M\) is a compact manifold with smooth boundary \(Y\) and the cylindrical end takes the form \(Z=Y\times[0,\infty)\). Let \(D\) be a Dirac operator on \(X\). All structures are assumed product on the cylindrical end \(Z\). Suitable boundary conditions using the Calderon projector are imposed on \(M\). The authors obtain \(b\)-glueing formulas for the \(b\)-determinant and for the \(b\)-eta invariant to extend previous glueing formulas for closed manifolds to manifolds with cylindrical ends. The presence of continuous spectrum plays a central role; this and other features present additional difficulties which are not found in the compact case.
