Setzt man die \textit{Euler}sche Vermutung, daß\ die diophantische Gleichung \[ x_1^k +\cdots + x_m^k = y^k \] für \(1 < m < k, k > 2\) keine Lösung habe, als richtig voraus, so ergibt sich leicht, daß\ die Gleichung \[ a\lambda ^n - b\mu ^n = k\quad (a, b, k \text{ ganz rational, \(n\) ungerade}, |a| + |b| < \frac {1}{2}n) \] höchstens ein Paar nicht verschwindender rationaler Zahlen \(\lambda, \mu \) zur Lösung hat.
