A submanifold of a Euclidean space is called a coordinate-finite type submanifold if each of its coordinate functions is an eigenfunction of the Laplacian operator. \textit{O. J. Garay} classified coordinate finite type hypersurfaces of a Euclidean space [ibid. 34, 105-112 (1990; Zbl 0704.53044)]. The purpose of this article is to study compact coordinate finite type submanifolds of Euclidean spaces of higher codimension. The authors prove that such compact submanifolds are minimal submanifolds of some quadratic hypersurfaces. They also classify compact coordinate- finite type submanifolds of codimension 2.
