The author proves that there are infinite depth (hence non-orientable) foliations on any compact surface. This answers in negative a question by \textit{S. Aranson} and \textit{E. Zhuzhoma} [J. Math. Sci., New York 90, No.~3, 2051--2110 (1998; Zbl 0939.37024)].
