The paper shows the solution of an open problem for generalized versions of t-norms and t-conorms, posed in the paper of \textit{P. Hernández} et al. [``On t-norms for type-2 fuzzy sets'', IEEE Trans. Fuzzy Syst. 23, No. 4, 1155--1163 (2015; \url{doi:10.1109/TFUZZ.2014.2346247})]. This problem was referred to some special type of convolution operators. It is proved that these convolution operators are \(\text{t}_r\)-norm or a \(\text{t}_r\)-conorm, respectively only if they are described by t-norms and t-conorms on \([0,1]\). Moreover, other characteristics of the given convolution operators (related to t-norms and tr-norms) are provided. The paper is well and clearly written.
