The author studies scattering in the semi-classical regime by two solenoidal magnetic fields in two dimensions. A quantum particle moving in the presence of two such fields with centers at \(e_+\neq e_-\) is governed by the Hamiltonian \(H_h=(-ih\nabla-A)^2,\) where \(0<h\ll 1\) is the semi-classical parameter and \(A(x)={\alpha_1\Lambda(x-e_+)}+\alpha_2 \Lambda(x-e_-),\) \(\alpha_j\in\mathbb R,\) \(j=1, 2,\) with \(\Lambda(x)=(-{{x_2}\over {| x| ^2}}, {{x_1}\over{| x| ^2}})\). The author proves an asymptotic formula in powers of \(h^{1/2} (h\to 0)\) for the total cross section. This asymptotic formula is described in terms of amplitudes for the scattering by a single solenoidal field. The first three terms in this asymptotic formula are computed. The system with two solenoidal fields has the trajectory oscillating between two centers \(e_\pm\). The author analyzes how this trapping effect is reflected in the asymptotic formula through the Aharonov-Bohm effect.
