This paper deals with a modified version of the classical two species Lotka-Volterra competition model, which consists of including maturation and hunting delays. The main purpose is to analyze the dynamics of the model when the intraspecies competition dominates the interspecies interactions. Assuming that all the delays are equal and then taking the delay as bifurcation parameter, the existence of a Hopf bifurcation is established, as well as its stability and the direction of the bifurcation branch, by using techniques from normal form and center manifold theory. The results obtained in the paper show that the dynamics of this model is quite different from the dynamics of competition models including only hunting delay.
